This fiery Habanero Salsa is a flavour explosion! Grilled habaneros, roasted peppers, and fresh lime create a vibrant and spicy condiment that's perfect for adding heat to any dish.
Ingredients:
- 4 grilled habanero chillies
- 1kg roasted red peppers
- 1 red onion
- 1 bunch fresh coriander (cilantro)
- 2 limes
Instructions:
Grill the Habanero Chillies:
- Grill the habanero chillies until they are charred and fragrant. This can be done on a grill, stovetop grill pan, or under a broiler.
Roast the Red Peppers:
- If not already roasted, roast the red peppers until the skins are charred and blistered. This can also be done on a grill, stovetop grill pan, or under a broiler. Once roasted, place the peppers in a bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Let them steam for about 10 minutes, then peel off the skins and remove the seeds.
Prepare the Onion:
- Peel and roughly chop the red onion.
Blend the Ingredients:
- In a blender or food processor, combine the grilled habanero chillies, roasted red peppers, and chopped red onion.
- Blend until the mixture is smooth.
Add Fresh Ingredients:
- Roughly chop the coriander and add it to the blender.
- Squeeze the juice of 2 limes into the blender.
Final Blend and Adjust:
- Blend the mixture again until the coriander is finely incorporated and the salsa is smooth.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if needed, adding more lime juice, salt, or fresh coriander as desired.
Serve:
- Transfer the habanero salsa to a serving bowl.
- Serve as a spicy condiment for tacos, grilled meats, or as a dipping sauce.
Store:
- Store any leftover salsa in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
